NEW YEAR’ S EVE

 

It is not very often that an eve

Is so celebrated,

Some times it happens

That such things are so

Not so because the rest of the year

Except  evenings

Belong to men

I suppose.

Meanings happen to vary

And people accept the primacy of the original

So we try to see that opportune moments

Are associated with absences

And so

Happy New year

Without missing the eve to you all

Sometimes intruding

Into the sentences

Written, one way or the other

To write being the only option

In the situation

Like used tea leaves

Becoming manure

The answer to the colour question

Is not simply replacing one for another

Which is as meaningless

‘cause meaning and vision

Where the only options

Imagination being

The only homeland

The saving grace and nation

To fall back on.
