SOMEBODY TOLD ME

Somebody told me the sky has fallen in, babe,

Yes, somebody told me so

I thought alright, we can move on now

Under a new sky, if that is the case

All that had fallen was a rain

And a rainbow aimed at it

The squid and the squirrel

Met up there in the clouds

Somebody told me that you are out there

Dancing in the rain

So shall we remain inside a coconut shell

That floats upward in the river

Swimming like silvery darkness

Etched on a fish

Drinking from a toddy pot

And slipping away from plates

Sometimes down your throat

Leaving all the bones

And on the table the cat eyes

At a splendid bone,

Geometric, cleverly sculpt

Sculpted by hands unknown, and known

My God I see you let me swim

Without a fin or tail

So I need to swim and dance

In this fallen rain

And see the starfish rise and fall

A bird of starry nights.
